Welcome to Tick. This Privacy Policy explains how One Bright Studio ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Tick mobile application (the "App").
Tick is played by people of all ages, including children aged 9 and up, and we have designed it to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts and no sign-in. The App never asks for a name, email address, phone number, or other contact details.
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is played so we can improve lessons, levels and difficulty. Events include levels started, won or failed, Rescues and retries, lessons started and finished, which experiment was played (never its result), Daily Ring starts and stars, onboarding steps, the age band chosen, streak freezes, and purchase and ad events. Events never include names, experiment results, or any text typed into the App.
Firebase also receives an app-instance identifier, device model, operating system and app version, and an approximate location (country or region) derived from the IP address. Collection of the advertising identifier is turned off.
If the App crashes, Crashlytics sends us a crash report so we can fix the problem. A report contains technical details such as where in the code the crash happened, the device model, operating system and app version, and a random installation identifier. It does not contain your progress, experiment results, or anything you typed.
Players who have not bought Remove Ads may see an ad between levels, and can choose to watch a rewarded ad (to keep going when the ring runs out, or to earn a streak freeze). There are no banner ads. To protect younger players:
To serve these ads and measure them (for example, counting impressions and preventing fraud), Google may process your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and ad interaction data.
The optional Remove Ads purchase is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. The App checks with Apple whether the purchase has been made.
Tick is suitable for ages 9 and up and is played by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App asks for no name, progress and experiment results never leave the device, analytics events carry no names, and all advertising is child-directed and non-personalised.
For the 9–12 and 13–17 age bands, a grown-up check (typing a number written in words) is required before purchases, restoring purchases, opening links outside the App (including the App Store review page), sharing results, turning on reminders, resetting progress, or changing the age band.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example in a support email, please contact us and we will delete it.
Tick uses the following services, which process data under their own privacy policies:
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of the App and its players.
Apple and Google may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. These providers use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required by law.
We process analytics and crash data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running, fixing and improving the App, and we follow the UK Age Appropriate Design Code by keeping data collection minimal and ads non-personalised. You may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 as defined by COPPA; ad requests are child-directed and the advertising identifier is not used. California residents have the right to know, access, correct, and delete personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post updates on this page and revise the "Last Updated" date.
